Did you wonder what happened to me last Monday? After two weeks of being sick, I decided to skip a week of writing. It gave me a little longer to think about what to write regarding chapter 4, which was a good thing. Have you read it yet? If not, why not take a minute to read through the Excerpt section? I’ll wait for you.
As chapter 3 ended, Tim was pretty frustrated at the blatant disregard of truth—not just by the tempters, but by the people looking on as well. Perhaps that’s what led him to open up the booklet that night given to him by the girl with nice eyes and no bobbles, Emma.
So what is this pamphlet all about? As Tim started reading, he must have thought someone had been watching over his shoulder recently and maybe reading his mind! He had questions and concerns—lots of them—and was looking for answers. He was surrounded by a culture totally caught up in bobbles and somehow convinced that the “getting” here and now could somehow guarantee a final prize. (He who dies with the most toys wins???) Tim was tired of trying, but what else could he do?
Was the answer really at the Bridge? And was there only ONE Bridge? Only one way leading to the King? How about an alternate path? Perhaps an elevator that only goes up? A bypass that goes around? A way out, if not a way in?
For those who want to argue that Tim—and everyone else—should have a choice of possible realities that correlate to their particular personalities, circumstances and affinities…. I say with all compassion and understanding: there is only ONE Bridge, and it is the only way to the King. That is the truth of His Kingdom.
Tim isn’t looking for another legend or myth, he wants verifiable truth. Is the Bridge available and verifiable? The assertion of the booklet is that it can be verified at the Bridge. It does not insist on belief in the message or demand he go to the Bridge. It simply extends an invitation to earnest seekers: “The tempters say there’s no King, or that He doesn’t care; but if you want the real Truth, perhaps you should go there.”
The booklet Tim holds in his hands asserts that he can know; but it’s up to him to choose if he will go.
