If you didn’t read last week’s blog, can you flip back and take a look? The conversation of chapter 6 of The Bridge is winding down, and it would be good for us to be on the same page as Emma and Tim.
So, does it almost sound too good to be true? Think there must be a cost? Actually, yes, there was and is a cost: The Bridge from OneDayBow had to be made – and only The King’s Son could pay that cost. The first two people caused the separation with their distrust of and disobedience to the King, and every generation after continued it. Graciously and kindly, He made the way to restore the broken relationship. He chose to do what He did not have to do so that the offer to choose could be made.
We’ve talked a lot about choice over the last weeks, but there is something more to consider. A choice is only important to the extent of the integrity of the one presenting the choice. This all-important choice that Tim needs to make must be based on more than a whim: Tim’s hope is ultimately in the ability and willingness of the King to grant him access into His Kingdom, based on the finished work of His Son. What is really required in this decision is trust in the King and a willingness to respond to the Truth.
Remember John 3:16? Love motivated God to send His One and Only Son so that those who choose to put their trust in Him can find deliverance from death unto eternal life. The offer made to Tim from the King, by way of Emma, is amazing. But it doesn’t even compare to the real story! The God of the Universe invites you to decide. The offer He makes is astounding in humility. The Lord of all creation, the One who has been rebelled against and rejected by people from the beginning, makes the way and chooses to pay for it by His Own Son! He lets each one choose, and that opens the opportunity for further misunderstanding and rejection. But, in His wisdom that is what He chose.
Not sure you’re ready to make the choice? Need a little more time? Not sure you’ll ever be ready? If you’re thinking you can make no choice, think again. There is no neutral position. To not choose the King is to choose the alternative: an eternal existence separated from Him. To say that is a sorry-existence is the understatement of the century!
