What a journey it has been so far! So much to learn. So much opposition. So many tempters. So many triumphs. And all in only 8 chapters of Part 2! Perhaps the biggest “Aha moment” came as Tim looked back at the desert and visibly saw that the winds that had beat him were actually opening the way to lead him on the right path – to where he stood that day!
How could that be? Coincidence? Wise planning by Tim? Really good weather pattern?
No to all of those. It was something much more amazing:
Suddenly, it all made sense as Tim saw where he’d been,
And thought about the guidance that led him even then:
Such power, strength, and wisdom belong to the great King.
He is Lord over deserts and every single thing!
Nothing happened to Tim in the desert but that which the King had planned and allowed to happen. Seem impossible? Well then, let’s not stop at the desert. Think about the entire journey Tim has taken to this point. Do you really think he got there on his own? Not to mention that he now had an inventory of protective equipment that was given to him, not earned or personally acquired. Without the King, the Son, and His Nooma, Tim would have never even made it to the first day!
And what about you, Christian friend: Does it seem impossible to believe that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose? (Romans 8:28) Think about creation! Think about Jesus in the boat, commanding the wind and the waves! Think about Lazarus, who Jesus raised from the dead! Think of Jesus raised from the dead! And, Jesus is coming again to take His believing Church to heaven! And certainly, don’t forget to remember the heavenly armor He has provided! Think about the perfect Word of God and His flawless track record on prophecy! Need I say more???
Either we believe in a limitless, ever-present, wonder-working Sovereign God, Who is able to work all things together for the good of His children; or we’re left at the mercy of random circumstances and situations that may or may not work out so good in the end.
The Bible is clear, God is Sovereign over all. We may not currently see the full extent of His power, plan and purposes, but one thing we can be sure of: no matter where our roads lead or what our future holds, we will one day look back and see that God has worked good out of all of it for those who love Him.
How should that affect the way we see things now? That changes everything!
He is Lord over deserts and every single thing!
