I’m sorry I haven’t updated for over a month. I was working on another project, and it had me captivated. Don’t you love it when your eyes are opened up to something you never saw before in the Bible? To say it was eye-opening and awe inspiring isn’t an overstatement. And, in fact, it goes along with what I want to write about today.
Chapter 20 of The Bridge from OneDayBow finds Tim in a very uncomfortable situation. He has crossed the Bridge and met the King, and his whole life has changed! But as amazing as that is, and although a visible change has taken place in Tim, his parents really don’t understand. Everything has changed for Tim, but little has changed for them.
Tim’s Dad isn’t a bad guy, in fact he’s a very nice guy. The fact that he’s concerned that Tim doesn’t work to gain bobbles anymore comes from a desire to see Tim succeed. But if he only knew the truth about the bobbles, and more important, if he knew the King, his perspective would change entirely. Mom too.
Tim is right not to argue with them, but he is equally right to not stop living for the living King. Tim needs to show respect to his parents, which he does, but as much as it depends on him, he needs to just keep living the truth. Thankfully, Tim has a good friend in Emma who reminds him of what is true. Winning an argument doesn’t necessarily win a person to believe in the King. As Emma said (page 88):
“The King is patient,” Emma said. “He wants all to come
To OneDayBow and meet Him – no matter where they’re from.
We’re not called to convince them, but clearly to proclaim:
Real hope is found in Truth, not in a made-up game.”
Which brings me back to my recent project. A good friend of mine encouraged me to study the Covenants of the Old Testament. They begin at creation, then are made with Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, and all culminate with the New Covenant. And guess Who is the ultimate fulfillment of all the Covenants? Yes, Jesus!
The Lord allowed me to share what I had learned at a recent Women’s Retreat. Studying the Covenants provided an amazing framework to see God’s plan of redemption, which He purposed from the very beginning! And it also gives great assurance of all He has yet promised to do.
The women were so blessed to see how perfectly God has guided the process that led to the first coming of Jesus Christ. How faithful, kind, and loving God has been every step of the way. It’s true that His judgment had to fall on numerous occasions due to the blatant, rebellious sin of man, but He has been more than patient in the process. And He is still reaching out with the Truth through His people!
We aren’t required to convince anyone that Jesus is the promised Messiah, just proclaim Who He is: the One prophesied from the beginning Who came to die for our sins and be raised from the dead, so all who trust in Him can live with Him eternally. I’m absolutely convinced and just have to proclaim it! How about you?
