If you didn’t read last week’s blog, can you flip back and take a look? The conversation of chapter 6 of The Bridge is winding down, and it would be good for us to be on the same page as Emma and Tim. So, does it almost sound too good to be true? Think there must be a cost? Actually, yes, there was and is a cost: The Bridge from OneDayBow had to be made – and only The King’s…..
Put me in front of an ice cream counter and you’re probably going to wait awhile for me to decide. A burger is a little easier; with cheese or without – depending on the day. I like those kinds of choices! Other choices aren’t quite as palatable. House work or paper work? Homework or yard work? Hmm… can’t I just choose neither? Many choices seem important at the time, but most only last a few minutes or a few hours…..
Some time ago I said that I admire Emma. She loves the King’s Book and is quick to share the Truth she has learned. As she and Tim talk in chapter 6 of “The Bridge from OneDayBow” she is doing what comes naturally to her. Crossing the Bridge to OneDayBow has changed her life, why wouldn’t she want to tell others? Why would she be silent when she has Good News to share? Emma embraced the opportunity to live to…..
In chapter 6 of “The Bridge from OneDayBow” Tim and Emma have a conversation that would have lasted about an hour, but it’s taken me months to get half way through it! Tim has questions that deserve consideration, and rightly and wisely Emma takes him back to the Book for answers: “In the beginning, Tim, this big world we live in was totally made by Him.” Stop and take that in for a minute. “In the beginning” indicates a beginning…..
The title of my last post – almost two months ago – was “Write your plans in Pencil.” I guess I must have been inspired when I said, “If the Lord wills.” My intention had been to get back to blogging on a weekly, or at the least, a regular basis. Time got away from me in the business of December, and then my own website locked me out from posting anything! As I type this, I’ve been told that…..
Write your plans in pencil, but etch your faith with pen. Begin with, “If the Lord wills…”, so you’ll still trust Him when The twists and turns of this life lead to an unplanned end. The God Who sees the finish is present in each bend. As I thought and prayed about resuming my blog, this poem started to unfold in my mind. During the twists and turns of the past year, the road of life has often seemed uncertain……
After many weeks since my last post, I thought I should check in. Perhaps you stopped by the website and wondered if I crossed the Bridge and didn’t return… Five weeks ago my husband, Bill, had a serious accident that resulted in multiple fractures. We thank God for sparing his life, and that his injuries were not more serious. He still has all his limbs, his eyes and sight, and no head injuries. One morning he left for work, and…..
“Why is the King so far away? Why doesn’t He live here? It seems like… if He loves us, He would want to be near. If we saw Him every day, more people would believe. And He could stop the tempters and others who deceive. It’s real hard to comprehend a King that you can’t see…” I’ve thought a lot this week about the questions Tim asks Emma in chapter 6 of “The Bridge from OneDayBow.” Tim had weighed the…..
I was young when I realized there is a God. I can remember praying some simple prayers at bedtime, and being amazed that my older sister could find so much to talk to God about. (Or maybe she just told me she was still praying so I wouldn’t keep talking to her.) We were rarely taken to Church but my Mom did lay the foundation of faith, for which I am grateful. All that to say, child-like faith came pretty…..
Last week I asked the question, “But, do you know why the “People of the Book” themselves were there?” What brought a group of very different people together, and what kept them together? Which takes me to the next question, one that I do know the answer to: Who are these mysterious “People of the Book”? If you asked a Jewish person about the “People of the Book” she might explain that God spoke to the Hebrew people through prophets,…..
