Today we get to look at Chapter 14 of The Bridge from OneDayBow. I have been anxiously anticipating sharing this part! I still remember the day that it came to me. I do believe the Lord inspired it, but he used one lazy grandchild (who shall remain nameless) to add emphasis. On one hand, the lesson is so obvious that I don’t really need to say anything, but I’m not going to let that stop me! In fact, I’m going…..
I drove by a new bike trail the other day and my attention was grabbed by a sign, “Helmets must be worn on the trail.” I imagine it’s expected, but I wonder if kids still resist wearing them. Bike helmets became “popular” when our sons were young. I say “popular” tongue-in-cheek because they were never popular with Jason and Matt. In those days (that makes me sound like I’m a hundred years old – and no I’m not!) helmet wearing…..
As I look at the title of this blog, it strikes me as a little odd. Is that really what I meant to type? Shouldn’t it be Triumph Over Temptation? Triumph Instead of Temptation? Or better still, how about just Triumph!…? No, it is what it is, like it or not; Triumph Through Temptation. Still not sure about this? Me either, but stick with me awhile… We’re soon wrapping up Chapter 13 of The Bridge from OneDayBow, with Tim now…..
“Where is all your equipment? You thought you were that strong? You didn’t know our plan was to trick you all along?” Have you ever seen one of those bloopers-shows on television where someone is deliberately set up? Take for instance; somebody leaves a bag on a park bench and appears to exit the area… Someone comes along – who the bag doesn’t belong to – and as they take a look inside it blows up purple powder in their…..
If you’ve read Chapter 13 of The Bridge from OneDayBow you know that Tim starts off feeling pretty good about himself, very certain of his ability, and overly confident in his own strength. (There’s something about entertaining delusions of self-grandeur that makes you oblivious to Kingdom reality.) It was the Son who defeated Natas’ death grip by conquering the grave. It was the Son who bridged the great divide. It was the King who arranged the way for people to…..
Happy New Year! God’s mercies are new every morning, but there is nothing like a new year to make you feel as if you have a new start. But in reality, the difference between December 31st and January 1st is only one day! It’s a new year, but it’s not all that new. I start this year and decade excited about God’s Word and seeing prophecy being fulfilled throughout the world – and especially in the nation of Israel. It’s…..
Christmas is over for another year. How did the celebration go? For the retail industry this is the culmination of a big shopping season that started in October. But many will find themselves today surrounded by gifts to be returned, tinsel to be picked up, and a tree that’s become a fire hazard? Diets have been blown, the credit cards worn from use, and kids are now crying they’re bored. What went wrong? Isn’t this supposed to be the most…..
“In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who…..
“This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and…..
The book of Luke begins, “Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the Word. Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things…..
