Something important deserves mention, and I almost missed it. In chapter 25 of The Bridge from OneDayBow, Natas has just delivered his “truth is relative to you” speech. He’s done his best to discredit the King’s Book, making it sound like a myth, and portraying anyone who’d believe it as less than intelligent. He is clearly tolerant of just about anything, that is, anything but the Book of the King. But notice, after he’s done talking he doesn’t have the…..
Last blog I took a small, but important detour. Because “The Story behind the Story” is intended to point to Biblical truth, it was good to bring Jesus into the discussion. After all, Jesus came into the world to testify to the truth. The fact that it wasn’t convenient for Pilate to take a stand regarding the truth didn’t make it any less true. Truth is not determined by the hearer, but by the One with ultimate knowledge and authority……
We’re in the 25th chapter of The Bridge from OneDayBow, but I’ve been thinking about Pontius Pilate, the Governor of Judea at the time of Jesus’ death. Jesus had been arrested by the Jewish leaders and ultimately taken to Pilate – the man who could authorize His crucifixion. Pilate found himself caught between a rock and a hard place. There was no justification for ordering Jesus’ death, and Pilate recognized that envy was behind the accusations of the Jewish leaders……
In chapter 25 of The Bridge from OneDayBow, Tim had every reason to consider that it wasn’t a good time, a good place, or a good group to share the Truth with. After all, they clearly weren’t interested in moral standards that originated outside of their own opinions – or so it seemed. Sharing the Truth would be unpopular, and certainly not politically correct in HereAndNow. But it’s one thing to think you can use deceit to accomplish success –…..
Have you noticed lately that people seem to be open to a lot of things they weren’t open to before? And that sometimes people can get really angry when you don’t agree with them? Unfortunately, the voice of reason is generally not well received by those that don’t want to hear it. I would welcome a civil conversation, based on truth. But then, there is the problem. Yep, I’ve lived long enough to be able to say, “I remember when…”,…..
I recently heard an astounding statistic. According to somebody that keeps track of such things, technology is doubling every 30 minutes, 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. Chances are good that since my information is a week old that even that has advanced! Some people like to say that those who are older aren’t very technology-friendly. (I’m not sure who they’re talking about, since if you are over 5 years old you’re already older than a lot…..
We just got back from a vacation on the eastern side of the USA and had the privilege of visiting the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter. The timing was perfect for writing the next installment of The Story Behind the Story! Were in chapter 24 of The Bridge from OneDayBow, so grab your book and follow along. Before I share about the Creation Museum, and how it relates to the group discussion that Tim’s sister, Crissy, started; I have…..
It’s taken me almost seven years but I’m finally to chapter 24 of The Bridge from OneDayBow, in writing about The Story Behind the Story. Keeping with my lightening-fast progression, I’m going to talk about the first two stanzas on page 105. Trust me, it’s important. Every week Tim met with the People of the Book. The King made them family; not based on how they look, Where they live, or how they talk – their faith made them one……
I must admit, growing up in the United States during the second half of the 1900’s (there I go making myself sound really old again…), I developed a mindset concerning “freedom” that would have left a founding father aghast! What they, and so many after them, worked so hard to initiate and preserve is a far cry from the freedom that we demand in the USA today. The desire of the early founders and settlers in the colonies was rooted…..
I sat in Church one Sunday morning, surprised by the confession of a prodigal. The young man was in his twenties at the time, and his parents were also in the room. He had been raised in a Christian home but through a series of wrong decisions put himself on the prodigal path. I don’t know if at the time of those choices he would have called them wrong. Probably more like deciding to live life the way he wanted;…..
