Have you ever needed to be in two places at the same time? Pretty impossible, huh? Competing commitments often have to be weighed in the light of priority, something stays and something goes. But what about when you’re looking at two things that are both Really important to you, and you don’t want to miss either one? That’s kind of where Tim is, as chapter 8 of “The Bridge from OneDayBow” ends – or so he thinks.
After years of considering, days of investigating, and hours of deciding, Tim is finally There! Not only has he entered the Kingdom of OneDayBow, but he is in the actual Presence of the One, True – and very REAL! – King! New life, new location, new opportunities… but also a new awareness of the extent of the deception in HereAndNow and the reason behind it. Tim has family, friends and complete strangers that need to hear the Truth. He is committed to remain forever with the King but torn by the commitment to go and tell. After all, isn’t that exactly what the King puts His People in place to do?
So, think this one out with me… If the King puts His People in HereAndNow to direct people to the King of OneDayBow; where did His People come from? And even though they are actively about the King’s work in HereAndNow, where is their real forever Home?
Christian, let me speak to you first. God did not save you to put you out of service, but to put you into His service! The saying that being so heavenly minded makes you no earthly good, is wrong! For the believer, we enter a Kingdom that is invisible on earth but as real and vital as anything we can put our hands on! We don’t enter God’s Presence at salvation and then leave it to live out the rest of our lives. If our minds aren’t convinced of that fact, we really will be no earthly good to the King or others. Salvation is the beginning of a magnificent journey that enables us to grow in our knowledge of God while revealing Him to those who need to hear! It’s God’s plan, conceived in His mind, not our own. Are we doing what He calls us to, here and now? There is no competing commitments: to be all There is perfectly compatibly with living for Him here.
Now, for the not-yet-Christian who may have popped in here to find out what this crazy-rhyming author might be up to; I’m here for you. That sounds like a very sweet thing to say, if somewhat harder to do, but I’m talking about more than being your friend or taking your dog for a walk. Were it not for you – for all of you who have not yet made a decision to trust Jesus to be your Lord and Savior – there would be absolutely no reason for us Christians to be here. We could be in Heaven with God, free of the competing interests of the world. We are here to point you to the King of the Universe, the Creator and Sustainer of you! You might find that odd or even annoying, but the King Who has been drawing you all along desires that you see the reality of that, lived out in the People that He has already saved. But, within the free offer of salvation in Christ, and eternity in Heaven, you need to understand something important: the decision is yours to make. Quite honestly, it’s kind of a no-brainer to me. A relationship with the King that begins a forever journey with Him, or the absence of God in the here and now that results in a sad eternal existence apart from Him. The decision is not here or there, but here and There.
Tim chose the walk of faith, and now sees what he couldn’t before. If you could ask him, I’m confident he’d say it was the best decision ever! And it’s not over, it’s just the beginning. Tim is about to embark on the journey of his life! Part One of “The Bridge from OneDayBow” is over but don’t miss what’s ahead!
