Some time ago I said that I admire Emma. She loves the King’s Book and is quick to share the Truth she has learned. As she and Tim talk in chapter 6 of “The Bridge from OneDayBow” she is doing what comes naturally to her. Crossing the Bridge to OneDayBow has changed her life, why wouldn’t she want to tell others? Why would she be silent when she has Good News to share? Emma embraced the opportunity to live to tell.
Emma told Tim of the King – and even revealed Him to be the Creator – and went on to tell of the separation that occurred when the King’s Word was doubted and disobeyed. It had a lasting impact on the first woman and man, but it did not end there. The rebellion of Natas (you know who he represents!) eventually led to rebellion of the entire human race – and all by, and because of, deceit.
You have to know the King could have judged those first two quickly. Right? After all, it is His world and He has the right and authority to hold people accountable. But instead, the King offered grace: undeserved favor and kindness. And how did He do that? In His perfect time, He sent His Son to build a Bridge. Actually, the King’s Son became the Bridge so that people could choose to receive His forgiveness and be reconciled to Him. And not just for HereAndNow. No, the reconciliation the Son offers goes far beyond here and now!
This morning I woke to learn that Billy Graham had died. I grew up seeing Billy Graham speak at Crusades, and I volunteered as a counselor at one of them when he came to Sacramento years ago. He was considered a man of integrity, even by those that didn’t share his religious convictions. If you know anything at all about his life, you know that he lived to tell the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ.
In the Bible, 2 Corinthians chapter 5, verses 14-15 state, “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that One died for all, and therefore all died. And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again.”
Billy Graham spent his life pointing people beyond the here and now, and today he is bowing in the Presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Wow! I don’t know about you, but it sure encourages me even more to live to tell!
