You may have heard the words before an emergency broadcast signal: This is a test, this is only a test. But why am I telling you that? I was locked out of my website – again! My last blog post was in November, and when I went to it… correction, when I attempted to go to it in December, the internet armed guards kept me out. Okay, maybe an exaggeration, but definitely a frustration.
In the New Testament book of James, chapter 1, verses 2-4 have something to say about the troubles and testings of life.
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”
Basically, we can get bitter, or we can get better. It’s a choice, even when we think we don’t have a choice. God is at work, and I really do want Him to have His way in me. So, I’ll trust His timing – even while fighting with the internet armed guards!
What are you facing today? Waiting? Worry? Delay? Trust God and press on. This world won’t last forever but what we do for the Lord, and the attitude with which we do it, will produce good that extends beyond this place. When we realize that, we see the opportunity for growth in godliness and for great joy.
