I missed it again this year – that is I missed the actual holiday. July 7th is said to be “Tell the Truth Day,” a day dedicated to honesty and the rejection of lying and manipulation. Sadly, as I looked around the web for articles about it, some thought it was a good opportunity to malign and discredit truth. Others treated lying as somewhat harmless, and generally unavoidable. How about you; do you think there should be a holiday to remind people to tell the truth? And only once a year?
Some people celebrate truth, and some deny it exists. But when you raise the subject of absolute Truth, even some of the celebrators become defectors. You know what it comes down to: whether you accept or reject an authoritative standard of behavior, and the Author of that standard, that originates outside of here and now.
HereAndNow has its own standard of behavior and it all revolves around the bobble. But, it didn’t originate with the bobble. Let me explain. The bobble was invented to direct the culture away from the King. There are lots of things you can say about the deception, but ultimately the enemies of the King are masquerading as friends – even benefactors – to the people of HereAndNow. The tempters have been quite successful in bait and switch tactics, using the material “bobble” to keep people from thinking about what’s missing inside. But ultimately, they want people deaf, dumb and dead to the reality of the King!
From where Tim now stands (page 29 of “The Bridge from OneDayBow”), he sees that clearly. But what about all the deceived people in HereAndNow? There are sinister deceptions to distract from the truth! What hope do they have? That’s a good question that deserves another question: do the people have a choice?
But he (Tim) also knew the King had People in that place
To tell the Truth, resist lies, and speak about His grace.
Because they cared enough to tell Tim about the way,
He met the Son and took His cross to the King that day!
So, you have people with freewill, living among the People of the Book who have gained freedom, and a King that is constantly working to draw others to know Him. Don’t miss all of those facts in the chapters that lead up to Tim’s decision in chapter 8! The King clearly makes the way for Truth to be known. Will the Truth be told? Will it be received?
